1923: according to the Lausanne treaty, Leros is assigned to Italy

26-9-1943: “Queen Olga” war-ship sunk by German bombers at Lakki

November 1943: battle of Leros

16-11-1943: Leros is occupied by German troops

7 March 1948: incorporation of the island into Greece

1949: the Royal Technical Schools are established at the island

1957: the psychiatric hospital of Leros starts its function on the island

1967: the dictatorship uses the island as a place of exile
