11th-10th century B.C.: Settlement of the Dorians. 6th century B.C.: Kalymnos cuts its first coins.
Beginning of 5th century B.C.: Occupation by Artemisia and participation in the Persian War. 460 B.C.: Liberation of the island with the help of the Athenian navy.
450 B.C.: Participation in the First Athenian League. 378 B.C.: Participation in the Second Athenian Confederacy.
End of 4th century B.C.: Fortification works at the island 205/4 B.C.: First Cretan War - Victory of the joint navy of Rhodes, Kos, Kalymnos and Nisyros against Cretan Pirates.
133 B.C.: Kalymnos became a part of the Roman province of Asia.
141/142 A.D.: Disastrous earthquake - desolation of the settlement of Damos.
5th century A.D.: Destruction of the temple of Delios Apollo.
5th- 6th century A.D.: Construction of big Early Christian basilicas. 554 A.D.: Strong earthquake strikes Kalymnos. The area between Kalymnos and Telendos sinked and Telendos became an individual island. mid 7th century: Abandonment of offshore settlements because of the Arabic invasions and construstion of the castled settlements Galatiani, Agios Constantinos and Kastelli.
7th century: Kalymnos is included at the Theme of Karavisianoi, that afterwards was renamed to Kibyrrhaiotai.
9th century: Kalymnos is included at the Theme of Samos. end of 10th century: Abandonment of the castled settlements and rehabitation of the offshore areas.
11th century: Construstion of the Castle at Chora.
Beginning of 14th century: Kalymnos under the rule of the Knights Hospitaller.
15th century: At the middle of the century the Castle of Chrysoheria is constructed. At the end of the century the Castle of Chora is rebilded and expanded.
1523: The island comes under Ottoman rule.
1912: Kalymnos is occupied by Italian forces.
March 7 1948: Kalymnos is incorporated into Greece.
